ICF International seeks a Technical Writer within the Corporate
Information Technology(CIT) group. This position is located in
Fairfax,VA.
Corporate Informtation Technology group helps clients design, develop
and implement integrated software applications to better manage
information and transaction processes across the entire organization.
Their solutions deliver increased process efficiencies and cost savings,
as well as enhanced performance and worker productivity.
Roles/Responsibilities include the following:
- Consults with customer or
technical staff to gather technical information, identify and scope the
documentation requirements and identify deadlines.
- Writes,edits and
formats technical publications and a variety of manuals (programming,
service, and procedural).
- Participates on project teams to provide
technical writing expertise.
- Interviews subject matter experts to
obtain necessary information.
- Functions as subject matter expert for
colleagues on product, system, process, or content related topics.
- Facilitates discussions between technical and business personnel to
achieve agreement on documentation content.
- Creates new documentation
that may or may not have an established structure and format.
- Designs
page layouts.
- Modifies existing documentation.
- Edits documents to
ensure consistency of logic and process flow based on analysis of
content.
- Analyzes systems and business processes to determine the best
approach for documentation.
- Designs and authors online help systems.
- Edits documents and ensure that quality of standards, format and style
are met.
- Provides feedback on requirements, specification and design
documents.
- Assists team members and others outside the department with
basic troubleshooting on software tools used.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field and 5+ years formal
technical writing experience.
- Experience with MS Office
applications(Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven proficiency with software
applications.
- Understanding of the software development life cycle.
- Must be able to work in a face paced work environment.
- Outstanding
writing and editing skills and a proven ability to produce clear,
concise information.
- Strong work ethic and professionalism.
- Ability to
work with others in a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to
multitask and balance multiple goals and priorities.
- Skill in
developing design and layout of materials to be published.
- Works
independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to interface with
all levels of employees.
- Ability to create effective graphics, flow
charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation.
- Ability to
prioritize assignments to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to study flow charts, sketches, drawings, specifications,
mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology,
operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
